Heirloom Tomato Open-Faced Sandwiches



The bright flavors of heirloom tomatoes go well with the creamy mozzarella and fragrant basil in these open-faced sandwiches. It's great for a light lunch or an appetizer.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices crusty bread
  • 2 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions:

Warm up the broiler

Put bread slices on a baking sheet

Put minced garlic and olive oil in a small bowl

Use olive oil that has garlic in it to brush on bread slices

Herb tomato slices and mozzarella cheese should be put on top of each piece of bread

Add pepper and salt

Put it under the broiler for three to five minutes, or until the cheese melts and bubbles

Take it out of the oven and add some fresh basil leaves on top

Serve right away
